Established in Auburn, Washington, in 1965, Oldcastle Precast, (Utility Vault) opened its Wilsonville, Oregon, plant in 1969 to meet the precast concrete demands of utility and highway departments in the Northwest.
In 1980, Oldcastle Inc., a subsidiary of CRH plc, a leading international manufacturer and supplier of building materials, acquired the (5) Utility Vault plants in the western United States. Today, with more than (80) locations, Oldcastle Precast is the largest precast concrete manufacturer in the United States. Utility Vault replaced its local trade name with its corporate name, Oldcastle Precast.
To meet a growing demand and provide the highest quality product, Oldcastle Precast expanded its Wilsonville site to 18.5 acres and completed a 73,000 square foot manufacturing facility. The production facility includes a 3-yard computerized batch plant and (6) overhead bridge cranes with capacities ranging from (4) to (15) tons. We can produce products weighing up to 60,000 pounds.
Over (100) products may be produced in any one day. Products are manufactured using a mix design that typically reaches strengths of over 4,500 psi in (7) days. Many products can even be shipped the next day.
All precast concrete products are manufactured under a strict quality control program. Concrete is tested daily in our fully equipped quality-control lab. Oldcastle Precast is an "NPCA Certified" manufacturing plant, www.precast.org/npcaservices/certify/.
Our (8) crane trucks with lifting capacities of up to 25,000 pounds deliver and offload products throughout Oregon and southwest Washington.
In 2005, we added a distribution yard in Medford to better serve the southern Oregon area.
In 2012, we acquired the Hanson Precast facility in Portland located on 755 NE Columbia Blvd. This enabled us to supply a full range of drainage products including concrete pipe, manholes, and catch basins.
In 2015, we relocated our Portland drainage product production facility to Wilsonville, adding brand-new Hawkeye state-of-the-art manhole & pipe production machinery.
